VERITUS GROUP ACADEMY

The Economics of the Major Gifts Pipeline

In our years of work in fundraising, one of the greatest challenges that we see is the lack of training and support given to leaders in fundraising, in general, and specifically in mid, major, and planned giving programs. We want to see you succeed and set your organization up to solve the world’s greatest problems. That’s why we believe it is imperative that leaders learn how to run the financial, “economic” side of their fundraising program, while their MGOs are working to create stronger donor relationships across the donor pipeline.

This course will help you create and strengthen a healthy donor pipeline so that your newer donors move to major giving quickly, and your revenue streams will be diverse enough to withstand a severe downturn. If you focus on strengthening these areas, your fundraising program will be in a position to weather any storm.

What we’ll cover:

  • The Veritus philosophy on major gift fundraising and how it fits in a non-profit strategy
  • The leader’s role in running an effective fundraising program
  • How to assess if your pipeline is healthy and make sure you are cost-effectively feeding your mid, major, and planned giving programs
  • The importance and key aspects of the economic side of major gifts
  • Why you must diversify your revenue streams and how to do it to guard against a budget shortfall
  • How to adjust your business plan and identify budget shortfalls as they arise

What you need to know:

  • This course is self-paced and allows you to interact in a multi-media learning experience (video training, audio training, readings, and Live Calls) on your own schedule.
  • There are 3-modules in this course. You should estimate 3-5 hours of work per module.
  • When you complete the course and submit all required assessments, you’ll earn 19 CFRE Credits.

“The Economics course beckoned me – Major Gifts is a long process and I was intrigued by the concept of looking at the work we do with a more business-like and less emotional filter.  I was concerned about the workload but it turned out to be very manageable as well as relevant…

“If you’re thinking of taking Veritus’ Economics course, do it! This course will teach you the science (well – actually the math) of Major Gifts Fundraising in an easy to learn way. And that, my friend, is just as important as the touchy-feely stuff.”
