So how do you continue building strong donor relationships when budgets are tightening and economic instability threatens fundraising efforts?
The key is to focus on what you can control.
Across the sector, we’ve seen that organizations willing to adapt and take practical, creative steps have the capacity to thrive. By prioritizing meaningful donor connections, clearly communicating impact, and making strategic shifts in approach, fundraisers can continue driving support for their mission and serving their communities.

Karen Fowler is the President & CEO of St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, whose mission is to support excellence in patient care and medical research at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, which is Manitoba’s second largest tertiary care hospital. Karen has been fundraising for hospital foundations and post-secondary education across Manitoba and Alberta for 30 years. In her most recent role at St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, she has helped to raise over $30 million for priorities in patient care and medical research. Throughout her career, Karen has seen the incredible difference that donor support can have when passions and interests align with organizational priorities. She is now dedicated to ensuring that donors at St. Boniface Hospital feel and understand the amazing impact they can have on the health of Manitobans, as well as people around the world.
