Sue Swan, now the National Chief Development Officer at the American Lung Association, had been working for several years as a professional fundraiser when she was moved by a story that deeply touched her. And her work became much more than just a job.

Major Gifts Officer Susan Nahvi started her career at the Friends Committee on National Legislation straight out of college doing advocacy work as a lobbyist.
Former Optometrist Now Helps Donors See How Their Generosity Can Make a Difference for Children
Gina Hedberg discovered her career in fundraising through an unconventional route.
“There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t say, ‘Well, Veritus says that we should do this.”
As Maureen Gregory tells it, she “fell into fundraising.”
“We need to love these donors.”
When Cathie Wright came to the Humane Society of Greater Rochester’s Lollypop Farm, she realized that her organization needed to pay more attention to major donors.
“Because there hadn’t been a planned giving program, I needed someone to steer me.”
Carrie says she found the support she needed when she discovered that Robert Shafis had joined Veritus Group as the Director of Planned Giving Services.
“How could I NOT help. This could have been me. This should have been me.”
Courtney’s personal experience has proven to be an asset in her work with donors.
