What Does Customized Training Look Like?

Here’s how we approach customized training

Our goal is to meet you where you are and support you in developing a new system that will help your entire team be more successful. This training is unlike anything else out there because it was designed with implementation and integration as the focus. We’re not interested in a one-and-done training. We’re committed to giving you and your team tools, resources, and strategies that you can immediately start using. Our goal in any customized training is for actual change to happen.

Before the Training:

Step 1: Discovery Meeting — Spend time asking questions to learn more about your objectives, unique culture, and needs.

Step 2: Proposed Training Outline — We’ll develop a proposed outline of the training topic areas, pacing, and mix of live sessions that we believe will provide the best experience for your team and result in the highest level of integration.

Step 3: Donor File Assessment — A key tool in this process is the completion of our free, no-obligations donor file assessment. This analysis is highly recommended to create the most accurate and impactful training for your team.

Step 4: Leadership Prep Session – Before training begins, we’ll schedule a series of meetings with your fundraising leadership and other key leaders, such as Finance and Data leads, to help everyone understand the purpose of this training and the system and structure you are implementing so they can support you in that process.

During the Training:

Step 1: Send Agenda & Pre-Training Survey to Participants – The pre-survey is designed to give the instructor a good baseline of information for each participant.

Step 2: Training — During the training, our expert coach will be guiding your team through the online materials and live teaching sessions, coaching them on how to implement, troubleshooting as any challenges come up, and keeping all leaders informed about the progress.

After the Training:

Step 1: Post-Training Survey — Upon completion of the training, we will ask all participants to fill out a survey to help us learn more about the experience and to report back to leadership.

Step 2: Next Steps — Our goal is always to achieve continued integration. After the training ends, we’ll have conversations with leadership on next steps for their training and implementation.

“We were looking for a program to enhance our team’s relational fundraising skills, and the Veritus opportunity provided the targeted content we needed for our midlevel team.

Our staff have highlighted the following learnings: the importance of focusing on the donor’s passions and interests and sharing the impact of each donor’s support; the balance between relational and administrative work; and the value of the permission-based asking approach. This has helped keep our focus on donor-centered fundraising. Permission-based asking is new to me, and a very thoughtful and respectful way to work with donors.”

Why Make Veritus Your Training Partner?

Veritus Group is a recognized leader in training and managing fundraising staff who work with larger donors. We have deep experience with dozens of non-profits who work with us on a weekly basis, and our Academy has trained over five thousand fundraisers on the principles, tools, and strategies to make them successful.

Many organizations we’ve partnered with have chosen to work with us to gain:

N

Nationwide data-driven fundraising programs

N

A unified culture of fundraising with a common language

N

System-wide use of successful tools and methods

N

Consistent use of metrics to measure staff achievement and success

N

A donor-centered approach that reduces attrition and builds lasting partnerships

Who Works with Us?

We’ve partnered with a wide variety of organizations across different sizes and sectors to provide training for their teams that is specially focused on their mission, needs, and culture. Rather than develop in-house training from scratch, these organizations look to Veritus’ deep expertise to create ongoing training for their fundraising staff.

This approach results in a unified fundraising culture with a common language, goals, and measurement of success.

Some of the organizations we’ve had the pleasure of working with include St. Jude, North Carolina State University, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, AARP, Sierra Club, and Franciscan University.

The Veritus Difference

We’re not your average consultants. At Veritus, you won’t find a bunch of opinions that lack research to back it up. We come from a data-driven approach with proven systems and structures that will help you create a successful mid-level, major gift, or planned giving program.

We walk with you through your training experience and provide a clear, step-by-step path for addressing your mid-level, major, or planned giving needs. By creating a system that’s designed to keep you focused and accountable, you’ll have a clear idea of how your fundraisers are performing, and you will keep your team centered on building authentic donor relationships.

We work with you to address problem areas and initiate change in a way that honors your team and internal partners and, most importantly, is sustainable and measurable. We believe that the right culture, internal partnerships, and systems are critical to be successful in fundraising. We’ll guide both you and other key individuals at your organization as you implement our system and structure (what we call “The Veritus Way”.)

Building a Culture of Philanthropy

At Veritus, we believe that if we are to create a true culture of philanthropy in our organizations, donors have to be part of our mission – not a way to get our mission accomplished, but PART of the mission. This is a radical idea, but a necessary one.
